[ED-3141] Setting Up a Cart Abandonment Journey

📘

Availability

Cart Abandonment (basic) is available on your project if it appears as the only template you can select when creating a journey map. Contact your customer success manager if you're unsure whether it's available for your project.

Cart Abandonment (basic) is a single-template journey map built for marketers who want to recover lost sales from abandoned carts. It automatically reminds shoppers who add an item to cart but don't complete checkout. Set it up by choosing a channel and writing a message. Refer to the sections below.

Limitations

  • Start from scratch isn't available.
  • Only message nodes can be added, so multi-step sequences, branching, conditional logic, and A/B testing aren't supported.
  • You can't configure your own trigger, goal, or exit events. Appier sets these up for your project. See Requirements.
  • You can have one active Cart Abandonment journey at a time.
  • No e-commerce platform integrations.
📘

Upgrade your plan

Other journey map templates are visible for preview but require an upgrade to use. Contact your customer success manager to learn what's included on a higher plan.

Requirements

Before using the Cart Abandonment (basic) template, Appier configures the trigger, goal conversion, and exit events available for your project. Only the standard events below are supported.

CriteriaSupported standard events
Entry / trigger eventproduct_added_to_cart, lead_initiated
Goal conversionproduct_added_to_cart, lead_submitted
Exit criteriacheckout_completed, lead_submitted

How many events are configured determines what you see during setup:

  • One event configured: The field is auto-filled for you. No selection needed.
  • Multiple events configured: Select the event from the dropdown. The first option is pre-filled.
  • No events configured: The field is empty with no options, and you can't proceed until Appier completes the event setup for your project.

Create a cart abandonment journey

  1. From Journey maps, click + Create journey map.
  2. Under Available in your plan, select the Cart Abandonment (basic) card and click Use this template.
  1. The journey opens with a fixed structure already in place: an entry trigger node, a wait node, and a message node. You can't delete, copy, or switch the entry trigger or wait node to a different type. Only the message node can be copied or deleted.
  2. Clicking + between nodes only offers Send Message. All other node types are disabled.
  1. Depending on how many events are configured for each criteria, review the auto-filled event or select one from the dropdown. See Requirements.
  1. Open the message node, select a channel, and write your reminder message. To add a fallback channel, add another message node, for example, LINE as the primary channel and SMS as a fallback.
  2. Review and activate the journey.

Once your journey is active, see Journey Performance and Analytics to track how it's performing.
